I recently came across a quote from Alexandria Bellefleur, author of Playing for Keeps, in which she shares her thoughts on when a novel is done:

“It’s a balance between feeling like you’ve done all you can and then needing to step back so you’re not just editing for the sake of making it different rather than better.”

Wow! I am so guilty of this. And my biggest problem is I don’t know how to stop doing it. I think this requires deeper thought and some research. I’ll be back with more a little later.
